Term Deposit Rates Compare Broadband Mobile Plans

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 3 August 2026

This policy explains how TermDepositRates.co.nz collects, uses, shares and protects your personal information. We handle personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 2020.

What we collect

You can browse and compare every rate on this site without giving us any personal information.

If you use our rate finder, we collect:

  • Contact details you enter: your name, email address and phone number.
  • Your answers to the four questions: your deposit size band, the term you're comparing, who you currently bank with, and when you're looking to open a deposit.
  • Technical and marketing data collected automatically: the page that referred you, and advertising click identifiers (gclid, msclkid) and campaign source (utm_source) where present in the link you arrived on.

We also use Google Tag Manager and associated analytics cookies to understand how the site is used. You can control cookies through your browser settings.

Why we collect it

We use your personal information to:

  • send you the rate summary you requested;
  • send you occasional updates when higher rates become available;
  • share with our trusted partners so they can contact you by email, phone or text about term deposits and other products and services; and
  • measure and improve the performance of the site and our advertising.

Providing your details is voluntary. If you don't want to give them to us, you can still see every rate we hold on our main comparison table and our other rate pages.

Who we share it with

We share your personal information with:

  • Our trusted partners — providers we select who may contact you about term deposits and other products and services, which can include providers in other sectors such as telecommunications and energy.
  • Our service providers, who process information on our behalf. These include ActiveCampaign (email delivery and contact management, which stores data outside New Zealand) and Google (analytics and tag management).
  • Anyone else where you have authorised it, or where we are required or permitted to disclose by law.

Some of these providers are based overseas, so your information may be stored outside New Zealand. We take reasonable steps to ensure it is protected by comparable safeguards.

Marketing and unsubscribing

Every marketing email we send includes an unsubscribe link, and we act on unsubscribe requests promptly. If you no longer want to be contacted by our partners, contact us and we will remove you from future distribution — you may also need to tell the partner directly, as they hold their own copy of your details.

How long we keep it

We keep your personal information for as long as we need it for the purposes above, and then only for as long as we are required to keep it by law.

Accessing and correcting your information

Under the Privacy Act 2020 you have the right to ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, and to ask us to correct it if it's wrong. Contact us as set out below and we will respond within 20 working days.

Keeping it safe

We take reasonable steps to protect your personal information from loss, misuse and unauthorised access or disclosure. No system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Contact us

To access or correct your information, or to make a privacy complaint, reply to any email you have received from us and we will pass it to the right person.

To stop receiving marketing emails, use the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any email we send.

If you're not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner at privacy.org.nz.
